Foot complications in relation to diabetes have been observed to cause significant impact on mobility, independence, health care utilization, and quality of life of affected individuals. Effective prevention calls for early identification of risk factors and their management in a coordinated manner.
This particular session will deal with comprehensive strategies for addressing issues related to diabetes and foot health. Topics that might be discussed include but are not limited to peripheral neuropathy, peripheral arterial disease, alteration of biomechanics, pressure injury, formation of ulcers, infections, wound healing, vascular evaluation, and risk stratification. Other topics that researchers might be able to discuss during the session include progress made in relation to assessment of wounds, off-loading strategies, use of imaging tools, vascular evaluation, remote monitoring, and multidisciplinary foot care services.
This session is expected to bring together diabetologists, podiatrists, vascular surgeons, wound-care specialists, orthopedists, rehabilitation team members, nurses, and primary care providers. The objective of the Diabetes and Endocrinology World Conference will be to understand how integrated pathways and timely interventions can help in achieving good outcomes.
