Diabetes may affect the GI system via metabolic, neurologic, and autonomic pathways. GI symptoms may impact nutrition, drug therapy, glucose control, and quality of life.
This session will address the issue of diabetes-induced GI dysfunction and novel approaches to diagnosing and treating this condition. Possible presentations may be devoted to such topics as diabetic gastroparesis, changes in the rate of gastric emptying, autonomic neuropathy of the GI tract, digestive problems, nutritional difficulties, motility of the intestine, diagnostic procedures, and connections between GI function and glucose control. Possible researchers' discussions may be related to novel methods of assessing GI motility and ways of diagnosing this condition.
The session will become a venue where gastroenterologists, endocrinologists, diabetologists, nutritionists, and scientists will share their experience. At the Diabetes and Endocrinology World Conference, multidisciplinary approach to evaluating and treating this condition and personalized approach will be under discussion.
