Insulin and blood glucose levels are influenced by biological clocks, diet, sleep, exercise, and hormones.
This session will investigate how biological timing affects glucose metabolism in relation to biological clock functions. Papers may consider daily fluctuations in insulin sensitivity, glucose tolerance, glucose production by the liver, hormone fluctuation, timing of meals, sleep-wake cycle, blood glucose fluctuations, and biological signaling. Researchers will investigate how disruption of timing, shift work, disrupted sleep and meal timing can impact glucose metabolism.
The Diabetes and Endocrinology World Congress will provide a forum for chronobiologists, endocrinologists, diabetologists, physiologists, and metabolists. Topics will include the possible clinical implications of glucose regulation via the biological clock, ways to investigate biological timing and future studies to investigate the contribution of chronobiology to diabetes.
