Description: Chemicals known as endocrine disruptors interfere with the endocrine system and disturb the regulation of hormones in the body. It is against this background that the Diabetes and Endocrinology World Conference will discuss the emerging evidence of endocrine disruptors regarding their role in metabolic health and outline strategies for prevention and regulation. Exposure to these endocrine-disrupting chemicals during critical development periods, in utero, or essential periods of childhood may lead to more significant risks of metabolic disorders when they become adults. Recent research has pointed out many types of these chemicals for the perturbation of fat storage, glucose metabolism, and inflammation; thus, this raises several questions about long-term public health.
